Old Stuff

For some reason, shooting old rusted metal objects from a time gone by is fascinating to me. Maybe, it’s trying to preserve a feeling, a sentiment, a history of a time when things seemed so much simpler. Either way, I love the way old things look when photographed in black and white. It seems rather ironic that I’d be shooting them with a digital camera and trying to make the photos look vintage. A few weeks ago, I went out to the desert and I wandered through the Joshua Tree swap meet and I found all kinds of interesting things to photograph. The following are a few of those photographs that I shot on New Years Eve, 2006.
